A Port St Lucie man who was cited for leaving the scene of an accident told cops that had to run – because he had the runs, thanks to a bad Chinese meal. Carlos Baca (not Caca) backed his pickup truck into a parked car and sped off – but returned a while later after cops had arrived to investigate. The 27-year-old, who was driving without a license, admitted that he'd fled the scene, but passed the blame for his actions to a local restaurant he said had upset his stomach. The police report for the incident says, "Baca apologized for leaving, but believed he had no choice, as he was on the verge of defecating in his pants."
A Vero Beach man who committed a nickel-and-dime robbery is behind bars today – because he left a trail of nickels and dimes leading from the victim's house right to his own front door. Cops were called to a home when the owner returned to the house and found a number of items missing, including some drafting equipment, a sword and a large quantity of loose change that had been saved up. They found about 40 coins outside the door of the crime scene, and followed a trail to the home of suspected thief Michael Sherman.
